Résumé du poste
The project consists of a new 270 sq. ft. three-season Timing Booth facility on the grandstand of University Stadium built in 1967 at the University of Manitoba for the Pan Am Games. The Timing Booth was treated as a legacy piece to celebrate the 2017 Canada Summer Games, the 50th anniversary of University Stadium, and Canada 150. The design goal was to provide a simple building that compliments the aesthetic of the existing stadium and press box while providing the most obstruction-free view of the track possible for the 8-10 officials to accurately track events. To achieve this, the east façade of the building features full-height butt-joint glazing, with additional windows wrapping the north and south corners. The north and south windows are operable to provide passive cooling through cross-ventilation. A tongue-and-groove wood roof deck supported by exposed steel beams provides an overhang to reduce glare during morning meets. The entrance of the building on the north side includes a porch that provides a covered outdoor area for officials to signal people on the track below, or to meet for a conversation outside of the main timing booth. The interior includes a long desk with integrated cable-management and salvaged rubber track on the floor. The west wall matches the colour of the track flooring and features a graphic with eight “lanes” that align with the seams of the glazing.
