In this position, one would serve as a senior advisor to clients operating within innovation-driven sectors, formulating strategies to optimize claims and enhance the quality of technical and financial support associated with each submission . A crucial aspect of this role entails overseeing the technical identification and documentation of eligible projects, which includes conducting interviews with engineering, scientific, and product teams to evaluate the work performed and ascertain claim eligibility. The Director will also guide clients through intricate Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) reviews and audits, acting as the primary technical and financial liaison throughout the process. This responsibility encompasses defending claims, addressing inquiries from tax authorities, and ensuring that documentation is comprehensive, precise, and compliant with legislative requirements. In addition to client delivery, the position involves managing a portfolio of accounts, mentoring technical advisors and consultants, and fostering the internal capabilities of the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) team. Furthermore, the role possesses a business development component, which includes identifying new consulting opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and demonstrating the return on investment of SR&ED and research and development (R&D) tax incentive initiatives to prospective clients. This role is particularly suited for an individual who integrates strong technical judgment with confidence in client interactions, possesses leadership capabilities, and has the ability to cultivate an advisory practice. **Qualifications** A Canadian CPA designation is preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of eight years of SR&ED experience in public accounting or advisory roles, along with a robust understanding of SR&ED legislation and CRA guidelines. Experience in preparing and reviewing both technical and financial SR&ED claims, as well as supporting CRA audits and reviews, is essential. A strong comprehension of eligible R&D activities across various industries, including technology and manufacturing, is required. The candidate should also demonstrate experience collaborating with engineers, developers, and technical teams, along with strong client advisory and relationship management skills. Proficiency in leading and mentoring teams, coupled with strong project management and organizational skills, is necessary. The ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines is also essential.
