The Mactaquac Generating Station began generating electricity in 1968. Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime. As part of the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project, the Manager, Project Controls is a key leadership role reporting to the Manager, Business Services. This position oversees planning, estimating, scheduling, and performance tracking to optimize project outcomes. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering Manager, and Construction Manager, you will ensure efficient resource allocation, cost control, and compliance with project standards. Key Functions Include Planning, Scheduling & Performance Management: Maintaining the master project schedule, ensuring alignment with execution strategies and contractual milestones. This includes overseeing critical path activities, producing resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6, and monitoring performance metrics such as SPI and CPI. The role also involves leading schedule health reviews, initiating corrective actions, and supporting risk analysis to maintain schedule integrity. Cost Control & Compliance: Developing and maintaining cost control systems, ensuring continuity between estimates and baselines, and analyzing cost and schedule reports to keep the project on track. Enforce compliance with project control standards and implement change management processes to manage scope and cost variations effectively. Leadership & Team Development: Leading and developing a team of project control professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration. This includes providing coaching and career development, ensuring proactive communication across project functions, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external contractors to achieve project objectives. Our Ideal Teammate Will Have Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, with a preference for Civil Engineering Seven years of progressive experience in project controls, preferably in heavy infrastructure project, with proven experience in large construction projects. Three years of experience in a supervisory role managing multi-functional teams Proven expertise in strategic project management and planning for megaprojects Knowledge of accounting, financial analysis, risk management, and reporting principles Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Proficiency in project management and cost management systems (Primavera P6/ERP preferred) Registered Professional Engineer licensed in New Brunswick or eligible for immediate transfer considered as an asset. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
