The starting annual salary for this part-time School Teacher position ranges from $12,300.40 to $22,561.20 , with placement on the July 1, 202 5 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Job Summary & Responsibilities Abbotsford Middle School is a vibrant grade 6-8 school with a diverse population of students. Our growing school encompasses a soccer academy and a Middle Years International Baccalaureate program. Numerous athletic, leadership, and club opportunities are offered to our students. The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative team promoting a positive classroom and school environment. The successful applicant will teach Grade 8 social studies and French. Education & Experience Major/minor in History or related Social Science, French Major practicum work teaching in French as a Second Language Experience teaching Social Studies and French at the Middle School level Eligible for B.C. Certification Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports Teaching Competencies All teachers are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate and respectful manner. Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics. Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
