The Opportunity This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care division and requires on‑site presence five days per week. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, information technology, and toxicology. As the Senior Engineer in the Facilities Department, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in the site’s Facility electrical infrastructure that supports Manufacturing, R&D, and office-space operations. This position leads the electrical engineering oversight, optimization, and continuous improvement of critical facility systems, ensuring their reliability, capacity, and contributes to strategic decision-making for electrical infrastructure planning. What You’ll Do ​ Lead Facility Infrastructure & Critical Utilities Ensure the reliable operation, performance, and compliance of electrical systems, HVAC, water, compressed air, emergency power, and other critical manufacturing utilities. Serve as the Site Electrical Engineering Expert Provide technical leadership for power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, electrical safety, troubleshooting, and infrastructure reliability. Manage Capital Projects & Facility Upgrades Lead facility expansion, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects from design and budgeting through commissioning and project closeout. Support Compliance, Validation & Controlled Environments Maintain validated facility systems and cleanroom environments while supporting GMP, ISO, FDA, Health Canada, and quality system requirements. Drive Reliability, Asset Management & Continuous Improvement Develop strategies to improve asset performance, reduce downtime, optimize maintenance programs, and enhance facility and utility reliability. Provide Technical Leadership & Business Partnership Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and EHS teams while mentoring engineers and influencing long-term infrastructure and sustainability strategies. Required Qualifications A bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Electrical is preferred). Seven plus years of experience as a facilities engineer Experience leading facility infrastructure programs rather than just maintaining equipment. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Experience managing capital projects. Experience with: Electrical distribution systems Medium and low-voltage power systems Generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers HVAC and cleanroom systems BAS/BMS platforms Asset reliability and lifecycle management Validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) GMP/ISO environments Ontario Building Code Experience supporting a regulated manufacturing environment (FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, cleanrooms) The annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,000.00 to $127,600.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
