Certified Utility Arborist

CERTIFIED UTILITY ARBORIST (CUA) – CONTRACT POSITION Ace Vegetation Control Service Ltd. | Alberta & Western Canada Ace Vegetation Control Service Ltd. is seeking experienced Certified Utility Arborists (CUA) for contract-based field work supporting vegetation management projects across Alberta and Western Canada. This role is suited for professionals who operate independently, take full ownership of their work, and consistently apply the highest safety standards in the field. Your CUA certification must be current, and you must be fully competent in safe tree felling practices, with a proven ability to assess hazards and execute work safely around utilities and infrastructure. ---------------------------------------- SCOPE OF WORK * Perform utility vegetation management, including tree felling, pruning, and hazard mitigation * Work safely around powerlines, pipelines, and industrial sites * Conduct site-level risk assessments and adjust work approach as required * Maintain professional interactions with clients, landowners, and the public * Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting safety and quality standards ---------------------------------------- CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS * Operate as an independent contractor and provide services on a project or hourly basis * Maintain responsibility for personal compliance, certifications, and work readiness * Ability to work extended hours in outdoor and physically demanding environments * Travel may be required depending on project location ---------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS * Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) – must be current (mandatory) * Minimum 6 months’ relevant field experience in vegetation management or arborist work * Demonstrated competency in safe tree felling and hazard assessment * Strong communication skills and professional conduct * Ability to work independently and as part of a crew ---------------------------------------- CERTIFICATIONS (REQUIRED) * Standard First Aid Level C with AED * H2S Alive * CSTS (2020) * Additional client/site-specific training as required ---------------------------------------- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset) * Clean driver’s abstract * Must pass a drug and alcohol test * Physically capable of working in rough terrain and lifting up to 50 lbs ---------------------------------------- EXPECTATIONS * Strict adherence to safety standards and procedures * Responsible use of equipment and company resources * Accurate reporting of time, work completed, and expenses * Zero tolerance for unsafe or unethical behavior ---------------------------------------- ABOUT ACE VEGETATION CONTROL Ace Vegetation Control Service Ltd. provides vegetation management services to the oil & gas, utility, and industrial sectors across Western Canada. Must hold a current Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) certification and have at least 6 months of relevant field experience. Candidates must possess valid safety certifications including First Aid, H2S Alive, and CSTS, along with a clean driver's abstract.
