BROKER Job Details Status: Full-Time, Permanent Location: Burnaby Compensation: Acera’s total compensation offerings are based on pay for performance that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $80,000 – $110,000 CAD annually; the pay offering is based on location and will vary depending on related insurance experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity. Job Summary The Broker markets a variety of Commercial accounts varying in size typically at a minimum of $50K in premium on an account basis, liaising between the Sales team and the Underwriters regarding renewal, new business and mid-term account changes, while fulfilling a mentoring and advisory role where needed; ensuring the needs of the client are met by delivering the highest quality service in communication, documentation and professional integrity. Primary duties include, but not limited to, the following: Prepare or review and input of documentation, which includes submissions, proposals, comparison spreadsheets, market response summaries, binders/cover notes and endorsements. Analyze the clients’ operations and exposure to risk to build out insurance coverages to help protect them from exposure. Coordinate the discussion of renewal strategies with client executive teams. Handling routine market and coverage inquiries. Ensuring accurate processing and receipt of policy documentation. Stay informed on industry changes by attending training and other business-related courses including various applicable insurer events. Maintaining professional relationships with underwriters, co-workers and clients. Providing exceptional and prompt service to Client Advisors and Client Executives. Other duties as assigned. Competencies & Qualifications: Supports a cohesive team environment. Adaptable to working effectively as a team or independently with the ability to adjust to tight and changing priorities and deadlines. Excellent organizational, written & oral communication skills. 3-5 years experience in Commercial Lines (not specifically in a marketing or broking role) Ability to use creativity in structuring subscription placements, primary and excess, quota share. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure from time to time. Self-starter with advanced skills in Outlook, Excel, Word and EPIC. Experience with Policy Works would be considered an asset. Ability to navigate different perspectives and personalities.
