Mechanical Engineer

Description As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll support the development rugged display products for military vehicles. You will develop high-quality component, subsystem, and system designs capable of operating reliably in the harsh environments. Some Of Your Key Responsibilities Support product development activities from initial requirements and concept exploration through validation, release, and production support. Work with cross-functional engineering teams to interpret technical requirements and ensure designs meet functional, environmental, and performance objectives. Contribute to the development of mechanical solutions for complex equipment and assemblies, including design, modeling, documentation, and verification activities. Create and review 3D models, engineering drawings, and supporting technical documentation using industry-standard CAD tools. Collaborate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with project goals. Participate in technical reviews and communicate design decisions, risks, and recommendations to various stakeholders. Support testing and validation efforts, including environmental, durability, and performance-based evaluations. Investigate product issues and contribute to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Assist with manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and continuous product improvements. Review engineering changes, technical documentation updates, and design modifications. Support initiatives focused on product quality, process improvement, and engineering efficiency. Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced team members when required. Keep current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices relevant to the role. Perform other engineering and project-related duties as required. Requirements 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience designing packaging solutions for ruggedized electronic products Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Must be eligible for clearances Assets Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock) and use of test equipment. Strong analytical skills in structural, dynamics and thermal analysis Working Knowledge in finite element analysis tools and techniques Manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing and assembly Knowledge of military, and/or industrial engineering standards and procedures Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $67.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
