ECE Assistant - Early Learning

The Adams Lake Indian Band is looking for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant to support leave coverage. The ECEA will work under the direction of the Early Learning Coordinator to offer assistance with the care of the children in Sexqeltqin Early Learning Centre. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures • Develop curriculum that aligns with organizational goals, mission, vision and 6 components of AHSOR • Build relationships with children and families through respectful and positive interactions • Establish and maintain positive, collaborative and effective team relationships • Provide supervision and care of children in and out of the classroom, including field trips • Prepares early learning materials as directed and assists with projects as well as clean up • Other related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWELDGE AND SKILLS • Valid Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate • Organization and Time Management SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A PHYSICAL DEMANDS Those normally associated with childcare duties that may involve lifting and carrying children and equipment and may spend time sitting on the floor or on child sized furniture. The ECEA will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facilities and may move throughout the community with children. The ECEA may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents and employees. WORKING CONDITIONS Working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. They will also be working outdoors daily in all weather conditions. EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE MS Office Suite OTHER REQUIREMENTS Emergency Child Safe/First Aid certificate BONA FIDE JOB REQUIREMENTS Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB Food Safe Certificate TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Fulltime Term 1 year Position with the possibility of an extension dependent on budget Wage offered will be dependent on education and experience, varying between $21 - $24 per hour. ***Please note that these hourly rates are representative of the BC Wage Enhancement, and no other top-ups are available. The ECE Assistant provides care and supervision for children at the Sexqeltqin Early Learning Centre. Responsibilities include developing curriculum aligned with organizational goals and maintaining positive relationships with families and team members.

Candidates must hold a valid Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate and a Food Safe Certificate. Additional requirements include an Emergency Child Safe/First Aid certificate and a Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance.
