Job Description Position Title: Merchandiser Employment status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt. Position location: Windsor (Ontario) About The Position Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Merchandiser will oversee marketing of finished products and raw materials to maximize financial results. Alongside the commercial team, this role participates in developing and executing on profitable trade strategies to maximize margins for the location’s crush plants. The ideal candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, be quick thinking, a fast learner and curious by nature. Must have the ability to handle stress well in a work environment that will require active thinking daily. Duties and Responsibilities The Merchandiser builds and maintains strong relationships with valuable accounts, seeks new profitable business opportunities, and strives to understand and meet customer needs to differentiate from competitors. They efficiently manage customer accounts and related accounting issues, make quick decisions in a fast-paced market, and monitor local, national, and global market trends. The role involves the buying and selling of commodities, managing pricing and risk, optimizing transportation and logistics. with IT systems, strict adherence to compliance policies, and proactive collaboration with internal teams are essential. The Merchandiser aligns personal goals with company objectives, pursues continuous personal development, understands local plant operations, uses communication channels effectively, and represents the company positively. They also prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports. Required Skills And Qualifications Verbal and written communication skills - Bilingual French / English Required (spoken, read and written) Must have the ability to develop both soft and hard skills quickly Must be a self-starter with an appetite for continuous improvement, both of self and our business Ability to excel within high-risk fast-paced work environment Ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions Negotiation, interpersonal skills and analytical thinking Ability to work in a team environment Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal & external customers Computer skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs Ability to train others Education or Work Experience University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting) Experience in commodity trading would be an asset but is not required. The ideal candidate for this position would possess 0 to 3 years of work experience. Additional Information All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada Willing to occasionally work outside normal business hours including weekend Willing to attend occasional industry events and conduct period customer visits $73,000 - $110,250 The posted salary range is based on the preferred hiring location for this role.
