Join us.Job DescriptionThe AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Mechanical Technologist to join our Ottawa, Ontario based team in a newly created position. AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.Major ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:Conduct drafting / 3D BIM for mechanical systemsPrepares finished design drawings from sketches, notes, and detailsActivities may include assisting with engineering calculations, coordination with other disciplines and prepping preliminary equipment lists with the assistance of an engineer and/or equipment supplier.Supporting the preparation of the specifications and maintaining project documentation including quality review documentation.Supporting packages preparation and submissionMonitors and documents conformance with quality, performance, safety and code requirements.General understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.Works in engineering project collaboration software platforms (i.e., ProjectWise, BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud)Self-checks drawings for quality assuranceSupport with field inspection and construction administrationWorks in team-based environment that involves coordination with colleagues in different disciplines based in different officesPerforms the responsibilities under limited supervisionWork both in office and field settingsQualificationsMinimum Requirements:In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum: College diploma in Engineering Technology + 4 (four) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationProficient in 3D Revit/BIM draftingDemonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered. Preferred QualificationsEIT, C.Tech or CET designation, or working towards certificationAble to develop and advance drawings from conceptual to detailed design stage.Good written and oral communication skillsFamiliar with software such as: AutoCAD 2015 or later and Autodesk Revit Family/BIM SoftwareFamiliar with Ontario building code, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, NFPA 13, and other relevant design standardsAdditional InformationRelocation is not available for this position.Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
