About The Role The Human Resources Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the HR strategy aligned with Gategroup Holding's business objectives. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in labor relations, employee relations, and talent management within complex organizational structures. The successful candidate will oversee HR operations across multiple locations, providing guidance, coaching, and support to management teams and HR personnel. This role demands a proactive approach to workforce planning, policy development, and compliance, ensuring that all HR initiatives support the company’s mission of delivering exceptional service while maintaining legal and ethical standards. The HR Director will also serve as a key partner to senior leadership, influencing organizational culture and driving initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or MBA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields. A minimum of ten to fifteen years of progressive HR experience is required, including at least 5-8 years in labor relations and employee relations roles, and a proven track record of leadership managing teams of five or more professionals. Experience within industries such as transportation, hospitality, manufacturing, or food service is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations, with proficiency in French language skills. Relevant certifications such as CHRL are preferred, and the ability to travel up to 30% of the time is essential. Responsibilities Partner with the Business Area President to understand strategic business objectives and identify corresponding human resource needs; develop and implement HR strategies to support these goals. Drive division-wide HR initiatives, programs, and processes within the region to ensure alignment with corporate objectives. Coach management teams on employee relations, compliance, and best HR practices to foster a positive work environment. Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to HR personnel across multiple sites, ensuring consistent and effective HR service delivery. Support units without dedicated HR staff, providing guidance and resources as needed. Collaborate with operations and training teams to identify training needs and develop relevant programs to enhance workforce skills. Work closely with recruitment teams to understand staffing requirements and participate actively in sourcing and hiring top talent. Manage labor relations activities, including negotiations of collective bargaining agreements, grievances, arbitrations, and dispute resolution. Address and mediate employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent resolution of disputes. Oversee responses to employment-related claims from government agencies, conducting investigations and recommending appropriate actions. Partner with corporate HR leaders to implement talent management initiatives such as performance management, compensation, benefits administration, HRIS, and policy communication, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with company values.
