About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Engineer to join our AXM team at Nordson Test & Inspection in Colchester, UK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to the development of sophisticated machine control software that enhances our inspection systems. As a key member of our software team, you will be involved in designing, developing, maintaining, and documenting software functionalities, particularly in areas related to hardware interaction and machine control. Your work will directly impact the usability, performance, and capabilities of our inspection equipment, supporting our mission to deliver high-quality testing solutions worldwide. In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineering and hardware teams on-site, addressing complex software-hardware interaction challenges using analytical and data-driven approaches. Your contributions will help improve existing systems and develop new features that meet the evolving needs of our clients. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline, or have equivalent practical experience. Proficiency in C# development within a multi-threaded environment is essential, along with experience in building user interfaces and underlying business logic layers. Practical knowledge of Core C# .NET technologies for GUI development, including XAML and MVVM patterns, is required. Familiarity with XML, XSLT, Entity Framework Core, and SQL databases is also necessary. Experience with mocking frameworks such as Moq and a good understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles are highly desirable. Strong numerical skills, experience designing software architectures, and familiarity with control software for hardware systems or building simulators will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Develop, test, and maintain machine control software for Nordson Dage inspection tools, ensuring functionality aligns with technical specifications and user requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define software requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions. Document software designs, user instructions, and technical specifications to facilitate maintenance and future development. Support field teams by debugging and resolving software issues encountered during product deployment and operation. Participate in code reviews and audits to ensure code quality, security, and adherence to best practices. Assist in transferring software into volume manufacturing, ensuring scalability and reliability. Mentor less experienced software engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering professional growth within the team. Stay informed about the latest software development techniques, tools, and industry trends to continuously improve skills and processes. Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned to support project goals and team success.
