About The Role As a Senior Staff Software Engineer specializing in Mobile (Android) at Capital One Canada, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology solutions and driving the development of our Android platform. This position does not entail direct reports but requires a high level of hands-on expertise in development, technical design, and architecture. Your primary responsibility will be to orchestrate the creation of scalable, secure, and innovative mobile solutions that align with our business objectives. You will review ongoing solution designs, evaluate new technologies, and oversee high-level architecture development. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams, business partners, and stakeholders to ensure that solutions adhere to architectural standards and security protocols. Your insights and leadership will influence our technical roadmap, ensuring that our mobile applications remain at the forefront of innovation and excellence. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in native Android application development using Java and Kotlin. Extensive experience in application design, technical architecture, and software development lifecycle management. Proficiency with key technologies such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, Jenkins, and Jetpack Compose. Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams, providing guidance to junior, intermediate, and senior developers, and collaborating with technical and business stakeholders. Responsibilities Define and drive the technical strategy and vision for complex, multi-domain Android platform needs, providing hands-on engineering guidance to ensure successful execution. Act as a thought leader by influencing architectural roadmaps and major technical investments across the organization, and providing expertise on emerging technologies and their impact on the mobile domain. Participate actively throughout the Software Development Life Cycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Mentor and coach engineers and senior technical leaders, elevating the technical standards of the team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Evaluate new technologies and tools, incorporating them into the development process to enhance performance, security, and user experience. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create robust business architectures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
