Agricorp’s Finance department is a dynamic, professional team responsible for day-to-day financial operation, treasury, investment, budgeting, reporting and financial analysis, contributing overall to Agricorp’s strategic plan. As the Financial Analyst, you will act as a hands-on functional lead responsible for the delivery of specific financial and accounting services. We believe our employees are our greatest strength, which is why we offer: * Comprehensive health and dental benefits to keep you and your family well * Pension plan to support your long-term financial security * Paid vacation days and sick leave to support your overall well-being * Work-life balance with supportive leaders who respect your time outside of work * Opportunities for learning and growth, including mentoring, coaching, and support for professional development THE ROLE In this role, you will: * Manage assigned programs, including understanding all aspects of the program, cash flow management and forecasting, financial reporting and audit, and management reporting and analysis * Prepare and develop new financial and management reporting, analytical commentary, and ad hoc analysis as required by management and stakeholders * Research, collaborate and advise on financial and accounting issues * Investigate operational issues, including coordination and follow up, leading to issue resolution * Conduct reviews of internal controls and processes, provide recommendations and implement improvements to promote effective and efficient processes * Oversee financial systems management, recommend improvements and upgrades, and support implementation of new financial and reporting solutions * Use relationship and knowledge expertise to promote financial understanding across the organization and influence internal and external outcomes * Participate as a key finance resource on projects to ensure solution development meets Finance department needs, ensuring complete understanding of process implications for new initiatives * Establish and maintain strong working relationships with appropriate levels of personnel across Agricorp, including management, the senior management team, stakeholders and non-management personnel * Provide support and share knowledge and expertise to other members of the team including mentorship, coaching and training. Job status: Permanent full-time (posting for an existing vacancy) Work status: In office Salary: $73,912 - $86,955 Location: Guelph, Ontario QUALIFICATIONS * Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent experience * Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience at the intermediate to senior level * CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation preferred * Experience in the public sector is an asset * Experience with Microsoft Business Solutions, such as Microsoft Office, Dynamics GP, Power Bi and IBM Cognos software preferred KEY COMPETENCIES * Technical/professional knowledge – Understands and applies accounting and finance concepts and methodologies * Quality Focus – Is conscientious, consistent, accurate and thorough * Analytical thinking – Interprets, links, and analyzes information and situations by breaking them down into component parts and identifying patterns, connections, and underlying issues * Critical judgement and problem solving – Exercises sound judgement in new situations in the absence of specific guidelines and/or direction * Creativity and innovation – Demonstrates curiosity, digging for information below the surface; questions conventional methodologies and creates new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges * Initiative – Identifies and deals with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise * Communication – Listens to others and communicates effectively, fostering open communication * Efficiency – Develops, implements and adjusts plans to reach goals, able to multi-tasks and prioritize BACKGROUND Agricorp, an agency of the government of Ontario. Candidates must have a post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance with at least 3 years of relevant experience. A CPA designation and experience with financial software like Dynamics GP or IBM Cognos are preferred.
