Résumé du poste

Who We Are Air Quotes Media is a growing Toronto-based media company that’s been delivering sharp, no-BS political podcasts since 2017. We’re built by people who’ve worked inside Canadian politics — and we make shows for a political ecosystem of journalists, politicians, advisors, and policy makers. Our mission is to bring more politics from the inside, out. Our shows live on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and Substack. The audience is loyal, growing, and engaged. We move fast, work lean, and care a lot about craft. The Role We’re looking for someone who can take a raw recording and turn it into something people actually want to listen to, watch, and share. You’ll be the technical and creative backbone of our production workflow. This isn’t a “just edit the audio” gig. You’ll shape how AQM sounds, looks, and shows up on our audio and video and social channels. If you’re the kind of person who obsesses over audio quality, knows what makes a clip go off on TikTok, and has strong design instincts — we want to hear from you. The Schedule Four recordings a week. You’re there for all of them, then you own post-production immediately after. During elections, things can shift to daily — flexibility matters. • Monday mornings • Tuesday afternoons • Wednesday afternoons • Fourth session — varies, confirmed in advance What You’ll Do Before the Show • Own the guest technical experience end-to-end — from first contact to final recording • Run pre-show tech checks with every guest — audio levels, camera framing, internet stability, platform access • Coach guests on mic placement, camera angle, lighting, and background — quickly and without making them feel awkward about it • Troubleshoot in real time — headphones, echo, dropouts, Bluetooth conflicts — and solve problems fast without derailing the show • Be the calm, confident technical presence that makes guests feel at ease and hosts feel supported During Recording • Attend all four weekly recordings remotely • Monitor audio and video levels in real time • Keep captures clean and complete — every session Post-Production • Edit and clean audio: noise reduction, EQ, compression, loudness normalization • Edit video for YouTube — tight, watchable, on-brand • Add branded opens, closes, title cards, logos, and theme music • Edit and embed sponsor reads • Export finals in MP3 / MP4 Social Content • Pull the best moments from each episode and turn them into them into content for X, Instagram, and TikTok • Design graphics and visual assets sized for each platform • Add captions, subtitles, and text overlays that feel native to each channel Quality & Delivery • Every episode gets a full QC pass before it ships • Stay organized, hit deadlines, communicate proactively What We’re Looking For • Proven experience in podcast, broadcast, or video production • Proficiency with platforms like Riverside, Descript and Squadcast (or a comparable remote recording platform) • Strong skills in Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro • A real ear for audio quality — you notice things others miss • Social media fluency — you know what works on TikTok, Instagram, and X • Sharp design instincts for social graphics and visual content • Reliable, deadline-driven, and easy to communicate with • Skilled at managing non-technical guests with patience and confidence — many of our guests are senior figures who aren’t tech-savvy, and your job is to make them sound and look great without making them feel like it What You Get • $60/hr • ~20 hours/week • Front-row seat to Canada’s most compelling political conversations • Real creative ownership — you shape how AQM sounds and looks • A small, fast-moving team that trusts you to do your job • Room to grow — this role has a path to full-time
