Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager serves as a strategic advisor to the business units within their portfolio. The HR Manager provides guidance on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, fosters strong relationships with managers and employees, and ensures HR initiatives are effectively implemented to meet organizational goals. job description HR business partnership Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned client groups, providing expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, training, and policy interpretation. Coach managers on best practices related to team performance, employee well-being, and engagement. talent acquisition & recruitment Develop and maintain up-to-date job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers. Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing candidates through head hunting, job boards, networking, and referrals. Oversee onboarding activities, including new hire orientation and initial training, to ensure a positive transition. employee relations & conflict resolution Address employee concerns and workplace disputes with professionalism and discretion. Investigate complaints thoroughly, mediate when appropriate, and document findings to support appropriate resolutions in accordance with company policies. Conduct exit interviews and identify trends to inform retention strategies. talent management Lead and coordinate annual review cycles. Support the resolution of performance issues, including the implementation of performance improvement plans (PIPs). compliance & labor law adherence Monitor changes in provincial and federal labour laws and proactively assess their impact on company policies and practices. Partner with Head of HR to draft, update, and implement HR policies in alignment with legal standards and organizational needs. Support and coach managers to ensure consistent and compliant application of HR policies across the organization. Prepare employment contracts, termination letters and severance packages, ensuring compliance with applicable employment standards. health, safety & disability management Manage workplace injury and illness claims, including WSIB/CNESST processes, and promote a culture of safety and compliance. Serve as an HR representative on the Health and Safety Committee, actively participating in meetings, workplace safety initiatives, risk assessments, and follow-up on identified health and safety concerns. Support employees requiring medical accommodations, and coordinate reintegration and return-to-work plans in collaboration with managers. HR operations & special projects Assist the Head of Human Resources with strategic projects, reporting, audits, and HR initiatives. Provide generalist support and perform administrative HR tasks as needed. Take on additional duties as assigned to support the success of the HR function. who you are Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (CHRP certification is an asset). 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a business partner or advisory role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French is an asset). Strong knowledge of provincial employment legislation and HR best practices. Ability to build relationships with business leaders and provide practical, strategic HR guidance. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and coaching skills. Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
