Position: SAP S4 Release Manager Location: Montreal, QC Duration: Contract Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only) Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week About the Engagement Akkodis is seeking the services of an experienced SAP S4 Release Manager / SAP Landscape & Environment Manager to support SAP transformation and release management initiatives for a leading company in the airline industry, providing passenger and cargo air transportation services. The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, governance, coordination, and operational control of SAP environments across the enterprise. The role will act as the central point of coordination between projects, AMS, Release Management, SAP BASIS, testing teams, and business stakeholders. Services to be Provided Own the overall SAP environment strategy and governance across all SAP landscapes. Plan, schedule, and control the build, testing, and deployment of SAP releases while protecting the integrity of existing services. Manage SAP environments including DEV, QA, UAT, PRE-PROD, and PROD. Coordinate environment usage across projects, AMS enhancements, defect fixes, regression testing, maintenance, and technical upgrades. Manage competing environment demands and proactively resolve conflicts between concurrent initiatives. Coordinate major and minor release bundles, ensuring all components are ready for UAT and regression testing within defined timelines. Maintain a single integrated environment calendar covering releases, testing windows, system refreshes, freezes, and maintenance periods. Ensure a smooth transition from BUILD to RUN by coordinating stakeholders and ensuring all deployment and operational requirements are delivered, controlled, and traceable. Define and enforce environment usage rules, refresh policies, access standards, and naming conventions in alignment with SAP and enterprise governance. Ensure SAP environments are used appropriately for development, testing, training, cutover, and production activities. Proactively monitor S/4HANA system performance, including CPU/memory utilization, background jobs, SAP short dumps, and overall system health. Implement SAP BASIS best practices, including kernel updates, HANA tuning, and job scheduling reviews. Establish and enforce preventive maintenance practices, including monitoring SAP Notes and applying required updates in a timely manner. Own regular SAP environment health checks and drive continuous improvement and enhancement initiatives. Expertise Required 12–14 years of experience in SAP environments, release management, SAP BASIS, or related roles. Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA Release Management and SAP landscape/environment management. Strong knowledge of SAP BASIS and SAP system administration practices. Experience with SAP BTP. Proven experience managing SAP releases, environments, testing cycles, and deployment activities. Strong Project Management and stakeholder coordination skills. Excellent communication, planning, governance, and problem-solving capabilities. Experience coordinating distributed teams and multiple concurrent SAP initiatives. Nice to Have Experience working in large-scale enterprise SAP landscapes. Experience in the airline, transportation, or other complex enterprise environments. Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation programs. Strong understanding of SAP release governance, environment strategy, and change management. Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
