Associate Physician - Surgical - Orthopedics

Your Opportunity: AHS is looking for an Associate Physician with surgical experience to support the Orthopedics Department at the Red Deer Regional Health Centre. This is an alternate physician provider role in which the successful candidate will work with a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The incumbent will work within the Hospitalist group under the direction of an attending physician and within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care. This position represents an opportunity created for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to be selected and prepared for work as Associate Physicians in clinical departments. IMGs are landed immigrants, Canadian citizens and/or have employment authorization from the Canadian government and fulfill the program requirements. Experience in an acute hospital based care facility within the last 3 years. Preference will be given to applicants who have had active acute care surgical experience within the last 3 years. Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE1): Applicants must have passed the MCC Qualifying Examination Part 1 prior to application. English Language Proficiency: As a requirement for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), applicants must have taken the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Canada with minimum required scores of 7.0 in each of the components within 24 months prior to registration. The Associate Physician will support the Orthopedics Department at Red Deer Regional Health Centre by delivering acute patient care. They will work within a multidisciplinary team under the direction of an attending physician.

Applicants must be International Medical Graduates who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents with a recognized orthopedic or general surgery residency. Requirements include passing the MCCQE1 and meeting specific IELTS English proficiency scores.
