As a Pharmacy Assistant in Foothills Medical Centre, you’ll play a key role in ensuring patients across Alberta receive safe, timely & effective medication. Working under the supervision of Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technicians, you will assist with medication repackaging, distribution, delivery & inventory management. Daily tasks include selecting & labeling medications, operating repackaging equipment, replenishing patient‑specific carts & ward stock & performing ordering & receiving duties. You’ll use automated & computerized systems to support accuracy & efficiency. Strong verbal & written English communication skills, attention to detail & a commitment to confidentiality & teamwork are essential. You will also mentor & train other Pharmacy Assistants, new staff & students. The ideal candidate demonstrates accuracy, professionalism, reliability, & the ability to succeed in a dynamic & continually evolving environment. You must be able to follow instructions, work independently & collaboratively, & adapt to changing workflows & technologies. Physical demands include visual acuity, keyboarding, heavy lifting & grip strength, twisting, crouching, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, & extended periods of standing & walking. This role also involves handling hazardous medications with appropriate PPE. This site operates 24/7 & requires availability for day, evening, night/weekend shifts. Description: As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Classification: Pharmacy Assistant Union: AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Inpatient Pharmacy Primary Location: Foothills Medical Centre Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 07-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Date Available: 24-AUG-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 10 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, Nights Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $24.65 Maximum Salary: $28.30 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications: To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Physical requirements include lifting, up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, plus frequent pushing, pulling, and extended standing or sitting. Graduation from a recognized Canadian pharmacy assistant program, or at least 12 months of recent experience (within the past 2 years) that includes inventory control, unit-dose repackaging, and medication picking is preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a hospital pharmacy or similar setting, particularly with automated packaging equipment and Willow Pharmacy (Connect Care), is considered an asset. Familiarity with pharmaceutical or medical terminology is also advantageous.
