With the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital now open, we are excited to be expanding services within urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology and ophthalmology, with the addition of bariatric and oncoplastics to support Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Classification: Registered Nurse Union: United Nurses of Alberta Unit and Program: Operating Room Primary Location: Grande Prairie Rgnl Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: At (UNA only) FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 10-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Date Available: 20-AUG-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 57 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $43.26 Maximum Salary: $59.21 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271. Additional Required Qualifications: Must have Accredited Post-Basic Peri-operative certification. Must work days, evenings, weekends, on-call and arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes when called back to work. Preference will be given to candidates in the following order - candidates with recent relevant OR experience followed by candidates who have completed an accredited post-basic peri-operative course followed by candidates enrolled in an accredited post-basic peri-operative course. Demonstrated knowledge of commonly encountered disease entities, associated nursing diagnoses/problem statement, effects of medical and surgical interventions, and concomitant nursing interventions required. Experience with application of professional knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and clinical judgment in the delivery of professional nursing. Adherence to nursing policy, practice standards and Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and accept change. Ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and showing initiative for improvement. Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing. Ability to be physically confined to an area due to job demands. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information Preferred Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in nursing. CPN©. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
