LES is a provincial team that is committed to providing supportive patient and resident care through timely and effective portering, cleaning and linen services. This position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident, and visitor experience. You possess strong customer service, teamwork, the ability to work alone, and prioritizing skills. The successful candidate also has a patient-first approach and is able to follow oral and written instructions. Motor coordination and hand-eye coordination are needed, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may be stressful at times. As this position requires a lot of walking and standing, it’s a perfect way to get your steps in, keep your cardio up, and keep in shape while greatly helping Albertans and your healthcare system! Description: As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. Classification: Service Worker I Union: AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Central Porter Services Primary Location: Chinook Regional Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.70 Posting End Date: 07-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 24-AUG-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 4 Shifts per cycle: 14 Shift Pattern: Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $22.33 Maximum Salary: $24.38 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications: Strong communication and collaboration skills within a highly complex interdisciplinary team; problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and sound judgment; time management skills; adaptability in a rapidly moving environment. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of hospital procedures and equipment operation. Previous hospital experience is an asset. Previous related job experience. A valid WHMIS certificate is an asset. Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to access/send emails, use software reporting systems and experience with Connect Care. Trained in the “Move Safe” ergonomic program and the “It’s Your Move” client handling program.
