About the Role Aligned Vision Group Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the company's accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and project accounting functions. Reporting directly to the ownership group, this key role will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, providing insights that support business decision-making, and ensuring the timely completion of payroll, tax, and regulatory obligations. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in monitoring project financial performance, strengthening internal controls, and driving continuous improvements across accounting processes and systems. This is a hands-on opportunity for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, growing, project-based environment. The successful candidate will partner closely with leadership, contribute to operational excellence, and help build a scalable financial foundation to support the company's continued growth and success. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, expense management, and month-end close. Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, cash flow forecasts, and management reports. Maintain and reconcile accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and other balance sheet accounts. Lead the year-end close process, prepare working papers, and liaise with external accountants and advisors. Provide financial analysis, reporting, and insights to ownership and management to support informed business decisions. Project Accounting Monitor and analyze project costs, labour, purchase orders, billings, and revenue recognition to ensure financial accuracy and profitability. Partner with project managers and account managers to track project performance, billing status, cost-to-complete estimates, and budget variances. Support progress billings, holdbacks, change orders, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and project closeout activities. Identify project financial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to improve project performance and margin management. Payroll & Compliance Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll, including wages, overtime, allowances, taxable benefits, vacation pay, and statutory deductions. Prepare and submit payroll remittances, HST returns, Employer Health Tax filings, WSIB reporting, and annual T4/T4A reporting. Maintain accurate payroll, employee compensation, and benefits records in compliance with applicable legislation. Support corporate tax filings, financial audits, reviews, and regulatory or government inquiries. Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, payroll, and financial reporting requirements. Cash Management & Internal Controls Monitor cash flow, working capital, and upcoming financial obligations to support business operations and growth. Manage vendor payments, banking activities, corporate credit card administration, and financing-related requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Identify opportunities to improve accounting, billing, payroll, and expense management processes through automation and process enhancements. Ensure financial records, contracts, and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and properly retained. Leadership & Collaboration Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to accounting and administrative team members. Collaborate closely with project management, operations, external advisors, and company ownership to support organizational objectives. Communicate financial results, risks, and opportunities clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the organization. Qualifications & Experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA designation or progress toward completion of a CPA designation is considered a strong asset. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, with increasing levels of responsibility. Previous experience in an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or similar role. Experience within a construction, audiovisual integration, systems contracting, professional services, or other project-based environment is highly desirable. Strong understanding of job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, progress billings, holdbacks, revenue recognition, payroll administration, and related accounting practices. Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, HST, WSIB, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and other regulatory requirements. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, reporting, and data management. Skills & Competencies Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial analysis capabilities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a hands-on environment while collaborating effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams. Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify process efficiencies and implement practical solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to building positive working relationships across the organization. Working Conditions Full-time, primarily office-based position. Occasional additional hours may be required to support payroll processing, month-end and year-end close activities, audits, and other critical business cycles. Periodic travel to project or company locations may be required, as applicable.
