Environmental Science Expert (AI Training) About The Role What if your deep expertise in climate modeling, ecology, or sustainability could directly shape how AI understands the planet's most pressing challenges? We're looking for Environmental Science experts to develop and evaluate advanced problems that help cutting-edge AI models reason through real-world environmental complexity. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and academics who want to apply their domain expertise in a high-impact, forward-looking way. No prior AI experience needed — your scientific rigor and subject matter depth are what matter most. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Develop, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with real-world relevance and scientific depth Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related fields to design complex, nuanced problem statements Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical soundness, and methodological rigor Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and other domain experts to strengthen AI model reasoning Ensure clarity, precision, and scientific integrity across all deliverables Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule Who You Are Hold a Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, or a closely related field Deep expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, environmental sustainability, or earth systems science Proficient in Python or R for research, data analysis, or modeling Exceptionally strong written communicator — you can explain complex science clearly and precisely Detail-oriented and rigorous — you hold your work to a high scientific standard Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Nice to Have Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI training workflows Background in environmental policy, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, or computational modeling Experience writing technical content, peer-reviewed research, or educational materials Familiarity with AI tools or large language models as an end user Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs and AI teams Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work Apply your scientific expertise to problems that matter — helping AI reason about climate, ecology, and the environment Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
