Material Science Specialist (AI Training) About The Role What if your deep expertise in semiconductor materials or molecular modeling could directly shape how AI reasons about the physical world? We're looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD holders — to work with cutting-edge AI research teams, helping build models that genuinely understand advanced scientific concepts. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want to put their knowledge to work beyond the lab — on a schedule that fits their life. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Develop, solve, and critically review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related domains to design complex, rigorous problem statements Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning in your field Ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, and depth across all deliverables Help push the frontier of what AI understands about materials science Who You Are Holds a Master's or PhD in Material Science or a closely related discipline Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent areas Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB — whether from research, coursework, or projects Exceptional written communicator who can translate complex science into clear, structured content Detail-oriented and rigorous — you hold your work to a high standard Currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Nice to Have Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows Background in computational materials science or simulation-based research Familiarity with scientific communication or peer review processes Why Join Us Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside world-leading research labs Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, impactful work Make a direct, lasting contribution to how AI understands materials science Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
