Mechanical Engineering — AI Data Trainer About The Role We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more reliable AI — and we need mechanical engineers who know their stuff. As an AI Data Trainer, you'll push advanced language models to their limits, expose their blind spots, and help shape how the next generation of AI reasons through complex engineering problems. This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep technical knowledge in a completely new domain — one that's actively defining the future of technology. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced mechanical engineering problems across domains like FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science to stress-test AI reasoning Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that AI models learn from and are evaluated against Audit Technical Accuracy — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for correctness, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) Improve AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance Who You Are Currently pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field Strong foundational knowledge in core areas such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely in writing Detail-oriented with a sharp eye for mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on an async schedule No prior AI experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS Background in aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, or manufacturing engineering Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and institutions Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere Gain rare, first-hand exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global network of experts Potential for ongoing work and contract extension based on performance
