Physics Subject Matter Expert (AI Training) About The Role We're looking for physicists to help train and evaluate the next generation of AI models. Your deep understanding of physics will directly shape how AI reasons through complex scientific problems — from classical mechanics to advanced electromagnetism. This is a unique opportunity to apply your academic expertise in a cutting-edge technology context, fully remote and on your own schedule. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design challenging, well-structured physics problems spanning mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and more Develop rigorous, step-by-step solutions that demonstrate clear and accurate reasoning Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical coherence, and quality of explanation Collaborate with researchers to build and refine benchmarks across undergraduate to Masters-level physics Provide structured, actionable feedback that helps AI models improve their scientific reasoning Who You Are Currently pursuing or have completed a Masters degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field Strong problem-solving skills across multiple advanced physics domains Able to communicate complex ideas clearly and precisely in writing Detail-oriented with a commitment to scientific accuracy Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously No prior AI experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, content evaluation, or quality assessment workflows Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts Background in physics education, tutoring, or academic writing Why Join Us Work directly with industry-leading AI labs on cutting-edge research projects Fully remote and flexible — work on your schedule, from anywhere Freelance advantages: high autonomy, variety of tasks, and international reach Contribute to meaningful work that advances how AI understands science Strong potential for ongoing contract renewals and expanded project involvement
