Location: Ontario (Remote) Employment Type: Full-time, permanent Reports to: Sales Director Travel: Approximately 25%, primarily within Ontario and Eastern Canada Compensation: C$75,000-C$90,000 base salary, plus performance-based incentive and benefits About ALNA Packaging ALNA Packaging is a Canadian supplier of aluminum cans and ends to beverage producers across Canada and select international markets. We provide flexible packaging solutions supported by responsive service, inventory planning and industry expertise. Founded in 2018, ALNA has supported customers through significant market disruption, including port strikes, freight volatility and changing tariffs. Our customers range from global beverage brands to independent breweries and co-packers. As ALNA enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a results-oriented Business Development Manager to expand our Ontario customer base and grow sales of aluminum can bodies and can ends. The Opportunity The Business Development Manager will own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, onboarding and account growth. The role will build relationships with beverage manufacturers, co-packers, breweries, distilleries and other packaging buyers across Ontario. This is a remote, Ontario-based role for a self-directed sales professional who can build a territory, create qualified opportunities and convert them into profitable, long-term customer relationships. Key Responsibilities Identify, qualify and develop prospective customers, their packaging needs and key decision-makers. Build an active Ontario pipeline through disciplined prospecting, referrals, industry relationships and targeted outreach. Prioritize profitable growth of aluminum can ends while developing complementary can-body opportunities. Manage the complete sales cycle, including discovery, product presentations, pricing, proposals, contracts and onboarding. Develop and grow assigned customer relationships through regular contact, account planning and identification of additional opportunities. Conduct customer meetings and site visits to understand production, procurement and technical requirements. Communicate ALNA’s product specifications, supply options and commercial value clearly and accurately. Maintain accurate CRM records, qualified opportunity stages, expected volumes, next actions and close dates. Provide reliable customer forecasts and communicate material demand changes to support inventory planning. Work with Finance and Operations on pricing, margin, commercial terms and customer onboarding requirements. Work with Logistics, Quality and Operations to address customer commitments and significant service issues. Support escalated collections with customers in coordination with Finance and the Sales Director. Share customer, competitor and market intelligence to improve sales and product decisions. Represent ALNA at selected trade shows, industry events and customer meetings. Provide concise weekly reporting on pipeline progress, risks and required decisions. Measures of Success Profitable revenue and volume growth within the assigned territory. Growth in aluminum can-end sales and conversion of qualified opportunities. New customer acquisition and growth of assigned accounts. Accurate forecasting, timely CRM updates and consistent follow-up. Strong customer retention and effective cross-functional execution. Qualifications and Experience Required A minimum of five years of business-development or sales experience; equivalent education and experience will be considered. Demonstrated success developing new business and meeting or exceeding sales or growth targets. Experience managing a full sales cycle and negotiating with senior decision-makers. Strong written, verbal, presentation and relationship-building skills. Comfort working with pricing, volumes, forecasts and commercial data. Independent, organized and accountable, with the ability to succeed in a remote role. Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time. Legally entitled to work in Canada and based in Ontario. Preferred Experience in aluminum beverage packaging, rigid packaging, beverage manufacturing or co-packing. Existing relationships with beverage manufacturers, co-packers, breweries, distilleries or packaging buyers. Working knowledge of aluminum can bodies, can ends, packaging specifications and production requirements. Post-secondary education in business, marketing or a related discipline. The Ideal Candidate You are a resilient and resourceful business developer who is comfortable creating opportunities from the ground up. You communicate clearly, follow through consistently and combine customer focus with sound commercial judgment. You enjoy working independently while collaborating closely with a broader team. Compensation and Benefits ALNA offers a competitive compensation package, including: Base salary of C$75,000-C$90,000, depending on relevant experience and industry relationships, plus a performance-based incentive. Extended health, dental and vision coverage. Three weeks of paid vacation. Business travel reimbursement. Vehicle allowance, mobile-phone and technology support, where applicable.
