About the Role Our client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced analytics solutions that support data-driven decision-making across a complex financial services environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone who combines Data Science, Data Engineering, and Capital Markets expertise. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to transform complex regulatory and business challenges into scalable analytics solutions while managing the complete lifecycle of data science products—from data acquisition and engineering through model development, deployment, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions. Partner with business stakeholders to translate complex business problems into practical data science solutions. Design, build, and optimize predictive models using large and complex datasets. Extract, cleanse, transform, and integrate data from both on-premises and cloud-based sources. Develop scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions that support business and regulatory objectives. Deliver dashboards, reports, and actionable insights to business users. Prototype cloud-based analytics solutions to demonstrate business value and accelerate adoption. Establish and promote best practices for analytics development, data quality, governance, and code reviews. Lead Agile ceremonies, manage project priorities, and mentor junior team members. Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on opportunities to leverage data and analytics. Build and maintain financial market reference data, including security master datasets covering equities, fixed income, ETFs, OTC derivatives, foreign exchange, and interest rates. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or another STEM-related discipline. Master's degree is considered an asset. 5+ years of experience in Data Science or Advanced Analytics within the Capital Markets or Financial Services industry. Demonstrated success delivering complex analytics initiatives from concept through production. Strong understanding of financial instruments, including: Equities Bonds ETFs OTC Derivatives Foreign Exchange (FX) Interest Rates Experience working with large, complex financial datasets. Technical Skills Strong programming experience with: Python (required) Spark SQL R and/or Scala Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling. Strong data engineering experience, including ETL, data preparation, and pipeline development. Experience integrating data from cloud and on-premises environments. Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools. Exposure to Databricks is considered a strong asset. Preferred Experience Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Trading, or Financial Regulatory environments. Experience with cloud analytics platforms. Building security master or market reference data solutions. Agile delivery methodologies. Mentoring technical team members and providing technical leadership.
