About the Position On-site | Casual As a Lab Assistant, your primary role will be to independently extract client samples for instrument analysis Specific Responsibilities: * Extract soil and water samples into solvent. * Perform duties in accordance with SOP and quality control procedures; * Transfer samples between extraction and analytical sections; * Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; * Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; * Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Familiarity with weighing samples required; * Excellent hand eye coordination; * Good organizational skills; * Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality; * Ability to work independently or as a part of the team; * Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues; * Intermediate English communication skills both written and verbal; * Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Required Qualifications: * Grade 12 education or equivalent required; * Diploma or Degree in Science preferred; * Minimum of 3 months laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field required. Physical Demands: * Ability to lift up to 20lbs; * Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per day; * Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
