Position: Full-time Location: Squamish, BC - in person Reports to: Early Stage R&D Lead Salary: $100,000 Other Benefits: Corporate bonus program, benefits package, casual dress, outdoor ‘pro deals’ Job Description ALUULA is developing the next generation of ultra-lightweight, high-performance composite materials. Our materials are redefining what is possible through innovative material science and product design. We are looking for a motivated Product Development Engineer or Scientist to join our R&D team and accelerate the development of future windsport products. This role is focused on accelerating ALUULA’s next generation of windsport materials and product constructions by combining materials science, hands-on prototyping, and direct collaboration with customers and development partners. Working with our early-stage R&D team, you will help develop new materials, structures, and product concepts that enable higher performance windsport products. You will collaborate with internal teams, manufacturing partners, and customers to understand design requirements, evaluate new construction methods, and bring innovative concepts from idea to commercialization. Key Responsibilities • Develop and evaluate new materials, constructions, and product concepts for windsport applications. • Design and execute laboratory and prototype testing programs. • Analyze material performance and translate findings into product improvements. • Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and challenges. • Support development of next-generation materials and construction methods. • Build prototypes and troubleshoot technical challenges through hands-on experimentation. Qualifications • MSc or PhD preferred in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline. • Experience with polymers, composites, woven structures, and technical textiles, ideally within windsport or related high-performance applications. • Experience supporting product development from concept through prototyping, testing, iteration, and commercialization. • Hands-on problem solver with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate technical findings into practical product improvements. • Ability to quickly learn and apply new software tools, testing methods, and technologies. • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, customers, and development partners. • CAD experience is considered an asset. • Windsport, parawing, paraglider, parachute design (such as Surfplan) experience would be considered an asset.
