Spare Driver – Temporary Full-time Position ADL St. Eleanors – Summerside, PE Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned cooperative celebrated for its excellence in dairy processing and foodservice distribution across Prince Edward Island. Location: ADL St. Eleanors, 36 Greenwood Dr, Summerside, PE C1N 4S6 Position Overview: We are seeking a Temporary Spare Driver to support delivery operations. This role is expected to run for approximately 6 months and is based out of the ADL St. Eleanors in Summerside, where daily loading and unloading activities take place. As a Spare Driver, you’ll cover delivery routes when regular drivers are away and help on other routes when everyone is working. You’ll be responsible for delivering ADL products to customers, making sure orders are correct, stocking products in stores, and keeping paperwork and payments organized. This is a hands-on, physical job that’s key to keeping our customers supplied every day. Rate: $239.76– $266.40 per day Work Environment and Schedule: * The job is hands-on and active. Drivers regularly physically lift and move milk crates weighing 25–50 lbs. * Daily driving responsibilities with a strong emphasis on safety and defensive driving * Route-based delivery work with multiple stops and consistent customer interaction throughout the day * Workdays are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. * Start times are usually between 4:30 am and 8:00 am and shifts finish once all customers are served. * Occasional overtime or additional shifts may be required Key Responsibilities: * Learn and be able to cover all delivery routes in ADL St. Eleanors. * Step in for regular drivers when needed and assist on other routes when everyone is present. * Safely operate delivery trucks, completing inspections before each shift. * Load your truck and deliver ADL products to customer locations. * Stock and rotate products on store shelves, removing out-of-date items. * Prepare invoices or credits when required and collect payments. * Balance your cash and inventory at the end of your shift. * Build positive relationships with customers and represent ADL professionally. * Carry out other related duties as needed. Requirements: * Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract required. Class 1A driver’s licence and proven commercial driving experience preferred * Experience in delivery or driver sales roles considered an asset * Ability to operate a delivery vehicle safely and confidently in all weather conditions * Strong attention to detail in product handling, invoicing, and cash reconciliation * Reliable and self-motivated, with a strong sense of accountability * Physically capable of lifting, pushing/pulling product, and being on your feet for extended periods * Able to work independently while representing ADL professionally with customers * High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
