Structural Steel Welder and Fitter

Amson Welding & Steel Erecting Inc. is hiring an experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fitter to join our team at our shop in Metcalfe, Ontario. This is a full-time, shop-based position for someone with structural steel fabrication experience who can confidently read drawings, lay out material, fit structural components, and weld to specification. Responsibilities Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and fabrication details Lay out, fit, assemble, and weld structural steel components Fabricate beams, columns, HSS, angles, plates, and miscellaneous structural components Measure, cut, drill, grind, fit, and prepare steel for welding and assembly Perform welding in accordance with project requirements Verify dimensions and ensure fabricated components meet drawings and specifications Operate standard fabrication shop tools and equipment Maintain an organized and safe work area Work independently while coordinating with the shop and project team Complete work accurately and efficiently to meet fabrication schedules Qualifications Previous structural steel fitting and welding experience is required Strong ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings Experience with structural steel layout and fabrication Strong measuring and mathematical skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious Ability to identify fabrication issues before components leave the shop CWB welding tickets are an asset Position Details Full-time Monday–Friday Shop-based position Location: Metcalfe, Ontario Competitive compensation based on experience We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and can produce accurate, high-quality structural steel fabrication.

The role involves reading structural steel shop drawings to lay out, fit, and assemble various steel components. Responsibilities include fabricating beams, columns, and plates while ensuring all components meet project specifications.

Candidates must have previous experience in structural steel fitting and welding with a strong ability to interpret technical drawings. CWB welding tickets are considered an asset for this position.
