Senior DevOps / GenAI Automation Lead Sun Life | Job Posting 1752 - DevOps Specialist III Contract: Short-term contract through December 31, 2026 Work Model: Mostly remote with occasional onsite collaboration Preferred Locations: Ontario (Toronto/Scarborough/Waterloo) or Montreal; must be able to work EST hours Experience Level: Senior / Lead-level profile, ideally 8–10+ years Role Overview We are seeking a senior, hands-on DevOps / Cloud Automation professional with strong experience across AWS, Jenkins and Terraform. The ideal candidate will also bring strong Ansible / AAP2, database automation or decommissioning experience, and meaningful GenAI / Agentic AI exposure. This person should be able to work independently, take ownership of technical initiatives, and collaborate closely with database, security, infrastructure and application teams. Key Responsibilities Lead DevOps and infrastructure automation initiatives supporting enterprise database environments. Automate and improve database processes, including provisioning, patching, migration, operational support and decommissioning. Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins. Support infrastructure automation and IaC using Terraform and AWS. Develop and maintain automation using Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform 2 (AAP2). Automate password, service account, API key and certificate lifecycle activities using tools such as HashiCorp Vault and CyberArk. Integrate DevOps and automation platforms using REST APIs. Where applicable, design and build GenAI / Agentic AI solutions for DevOps and database operations. Must-Have Experience Ideally 8–10+ years of DevOps, Cloud, SRE, Platform Engineering or Infrastructure Automation experience. Strong hands-on AWS experience. Strong Jenkins experience, including pipelines, Shared Libraries, Groovy and preferably JTE. Strong Terraform experience supporting enterprise cloud environments. Hands-on Ansible experience; AAP2 experience is highly preferred. Strong Git / Bitbucket and CI/CD experience. Strong scripting experience using Python, Bash and/or PowerShell. Experience integrating systems and automation platforms using REST APIs. Strong understanding of database infrastructure and operations. Experience with database automation / process improvement; database decommissioning experience is highly valued. GenAI / Agentic AI – Strong Preference For the senior profile, hands-on GenAI / Agentic AI experience is strongly preferred, including experience with some of the following: Building AI agents or GenAI solutions in production or near-production environments. AWS Bedrock or similar AI/agent platforms. RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector stores and retrieval. MCP (Model Context Protocol) and tool integrations. LangGraph, LangChain or similar agent frameworks. AI agents integrated with REST APIs, DevOps tooling or database platforms. Prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, guardrails and AI workflow operationalization. Security & Automation Experience with some of the following is highly desirable: HashiCorp Vault CyberArk AWS Secrets Manager Active Directory / LDAP Password and credential rotation TLS certificate lifecycle automation Kubernetes secrets management Leadership / Working Style Able to independently lead technical initiatives. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Able to ramp up quickly in an existing enterprise environment. Proactive communicator who raises risks and issues early. Comfortable working with DBAs, security, application and infrastructure teams. Strong ownership and delivery focus. Nice to Have Kubernetes / OpenShift, Helm, Docker or Podman. Grafana, CloudWatch or other monitoring / observability tools. ServiceNow, Jira or ITSM automation experience. AWS or Terraform certifications. Financial-services or other regulated-industry experience. Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred.

Lead DevOps and infrastructure automation initiatives specifically supporting enterprise database environments. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and GenAI/Agentic AI solutions to improve operational efficiency.

Requires 8-10+ years of experience in DevOps or Cloud automation with strong proficiency in AWS, Jenkins, and Terraform. A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, and hands-on experience with GenAI frameworks is strongly preferred.
