About The Role As an Engineering Technologist, you’ll play a critical role in programming, integrating, and optimizing automated control systems across our advanced manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance production efficiency, reliability, and safety. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager. Key Responsibilities Control Systems Programming and Integration: Design, develop, and implement PLC and HMI programs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent). Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to ensure reliable equipment operation. Maintain and document logic and control system changes. Develop and support SCADA systems for plant monitoring. Integrate new machinery and upgrade existing systems while minimizing downtime. Electrical and Automation Support: Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve recurring control-related issues. Perform electrical device troubleshooting. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&ID drawings. Support the commissioning of new machinery and automation projects. Assist in the design and layout of electrical panels and control systems. Project Execution and Continuous Improvement: Participate in planning and executing engineering and automation projects. Identify opportunities to enhance processes, safety, and equipment performance. Prepare technical documentation, risk assessments, reports, and user manuals. Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices. Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams daily. Train technicians and operators on new or updated control systems. Maintain open communication with equipment vendors and contractors. Contribute to team meetings, technical discussions, and project updates. Required Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field. Minimum 3 years of PLC programming and industrial automation experience, preferably in manufacturing. Proficiency with PLC platforms: Allen‑Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000) Siemens (Step 7) HMI experience with: FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Premium HMI, MapleSystems EBPro VFD programming skills (Allen‑Bradley CCW, Siemens Starter). Strong Modbus RTU/TCP troubleshooting skills. Solid understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.). SCADA experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases. Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and safety practices. Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment and stay composed during emergencies. Comfortable working independently or collaboratively under tight deadlines.
