Job Posting: Technician, Distribution Operations – Leduc Job Category: Operations Requisition Number: 8-26 Application Deadline: Until a suitable candidate is found. Wages: $38.59 – $46.32 per hour. Apex Utilities Inc. is a provincially regulated natural gas distribution utility delivering safe and reliable natural gas service to over 85,000 residential, rural, commercial, and industrial customers in more than 90 communities across Alberta. Supporting Albertans since 1954, Apex operates over 21,000 km of natural gas pipelines and over 600 pressure and regulating stations through a network of 16 district offices. What You Will Do: In this unionized position of Technician, Distribution Operations, you will play an essential role within our Operations Team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Efficiently operating and maintaining natural gas pipeline systems; * Ensuring all required documentation is completed on time as required by regulations; * Responding to natural gas related emergencies; * Performing construction tasks as per policies and procedures; and * Representing the Company to customers and the public. What You Will Bring: Required qualifications: * High School Diploma or equivalent; * Gas Utilities Operator course; * Three years in a related field, of which one year involves performing the operations functions of a natural gas utility; * Valid Province of Alberta Class 5 driver’s license; * A clean driver's abstract is also required for this position; and * Ability to perform all necessary physical requirements Note: The successful candidate will be required to live within 30 minutes driving time from our Leduc District Office to respond to natural gas related emergencies. Preferred skills and qualifications: * Mechanical aptitude and dexterity when using tools, equipment, and instruments; * Good communication skills, decision making skills and a strong work ethic; * Ability to establish good working relationships and provide excellent customer service; * Proficiency working with various computer software systems including Microsoft Office suite; * Good judgment and maintain motivation and performance when working independently and; * Safe work habits and adherence to safety regulation.
