This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and is looking to build a career in product testing, engineering support, and laboratory operations. In this entry-level role, you'll work alongside experienced laboratory professionals to conduct mechanical and electrical testing, collect and document results, maintain equipment, and support a safe and organized lab environment. Reports To: Laboratory Manager What You'll Do As a Laboratory Technician I, you will: * Set up and perform standard mechanical and electrical tests under the guidance of senior laboratory staff. * Assist with more advanced testing activities and projects. * Prepare samples according to established procedures and specifications. * Document test results accurately and maintain required records. * Learn to interpret test specifications and acceptance criteria. * Support the repair, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. * Maintain laboratory notebooks, test records, and technical reports. * Help keep the laboratory clean, organized, and operating efficiently. * Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools safely and effectively. * Communicate professionally with customers and laboratory team members. * Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies. * Report quality concerns or nonconformances as appropriate. * Coordinate workload priorities and communicate testing progress and turnaround times. * Cross-train in other areas of the organization as opportunities arise. * Perform other related duties as needed. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications * Training, education, or experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. * Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with standard software applications. * Experience using hand tools and basic shop equipment. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications * Diploma, certificate, or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. * Hands-on experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment. * Experience in a testing laboratory, manufacturing, technical, or product development environment. * Experience preparing technical reports and managing test data. * Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment and procedures. Physical Requirements * Ability to inspect samples, equipment, and test results, with or without corrective lenses. * Ability to operate laboratory equipment and tools safely. * Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday. * Ability to read and interpret technical documents, specifications, and computer screens. * Ability to lift, move, and carry test samples, fixtures, and equipment. * Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
