About Appropriate Housing Matters Inc. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise committed to retaining and growing affordable, socially responsible, and appropriate homes in our region. We deliver, with pride, a variety of housing options where people want to live, that are well-maintained, well-run, and safe. We raise the standard of what is considered "affordable" and ensure that our tenants and residents live in appropriate housing. Vision "To deliver safe, well-managed, appropriate housing for all." Mission To provide safe, appropriate and well-managed homes, providing expertise and services while delivering growth in the affordable & social housing market. Board Responsibilities The Board leads Appropriate Housing Matters in fulfilling its mission and deepening Appropriate Housing Matter's impact in the community by setting strategy and generating the resources to achieve that strategy. It is the overall responsibility of the Board to ensure that Appropriate Housing Matters meets its obligations on an ongoing basis and operates reliably and safely by: • Working within the various current legislations, articles of incorporation, and by-laws. • Participating in the democratic structure of the Non-Profit Organization (including • Creating, discussing, and voting on proposals and assisting in policy-forming). • Exercising all the Board powers that can be legally exercised between General meetings and Board of Director meetings; and, • Working within budgets approved by the Board Time Commitment 6 in-person meetings per year; virtual meetings anticipated 6 per year—approximately one board meeting per month. Board for a minimum of 10 calendar months within a fiscal year and have participated in no less than 90% of meetings scheduled are entitled to an honorarium benefit.
