THE OPPORTUNITY: Our Accounting teams are currently seeking candidates for multiple 2027 Summer Student positions across our Financial Accounting, Operations Accounting, and Production Accounting groups. These 4-month work terms will commence in May 2027 and are based in Calgary. These dynamic positions will provide the successful candidates with an excellent opportunity to continue to learn about the western Canadian oil & gas industry as well as further develop their accounting skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Accounting * Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial accounting journal entries * Monthly account balance reconciliations * Assist with preparation of management reporting packages * Support the preparation of forecasts, budgets and ad hoc financial analyses as required * Assistance with user acceptance testing of financial reporting system changes * Support with Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reporting * Preparation of Statistics Canada surveys * Support other projects and initiatives as required * Both written and oral communication skills will be applicable as the candidate will co-ordinate with many individuals within the department Operations Accounting * Daily invoice processing, including verification of correct coding and sufficient approvals * Upload PDF invoices into the invoice processing system for proper coding and approval routing * Process of cheque requests and donation requests as well as manage cancelled and re-issued cheques * Assist the AP Coordinator with journal entries * Other duties and special projects as required Production Accounting * Assist with gathering and analyzing production data to support revenue, royalty, and fee calculations * Assist with monthly and quarterly production accounting journal entries * Monthly account balance reconciliations * Review property reports to ensure recognition of production, revenue, royalties and fees * Update production accounting records to reflect changes in production factors, product flow, fuel estimates, gas analysis, royalties, and ownership * Communicate with the field staff and internal teams to resolve data discrepancies * Support other projects and initiatives as required WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC: * These positions are ideally suited for students currently in their second or third year of a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program, with a preference for those pursuing Accounting or a related business discipline and returning to their studies in the following academic term * Ability to perform tasks both independently and within a team environment * Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through and resolve issues with good communication skills * Intermediate MS Office/365 skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint * Experience in accounting is considered an asset, but not required * Experience in SAP or other financial systems is considered an asset, but not required * For students interested in the Production Accounting position, an interest in pursuing the CAPPA Certificate Program is considered an asset REWARDING OPPORTUNITY: * An opportunity to be part of delivering responsible energy by developing and growing your career with us * Working collaboratively with, and learning from some of the most talented and experienced people in our industry * A culture of caring and high performance * Focus on health and well-being * An environment where all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, feel a sense of belonging, and can contribute fully to the organization’s success * Meaningful work that makes a difference in the Canadian energy industry We are pleased to share that Shell’s acquisition of ARC Resources Ltd. has now officially closed.
