We specialize in delivering custom, high-quality renovation, light commercial and design-build projects. We are currently seeking a Project Estimator to join our talented team. Scope of Work: Conduct thorough site inspections using physical assessments, photographic documentation, and Matterport 3D scanning to evaluate existing conditions and identify potential site-specific variables. Analyze architectural and structural drawings to define a comprehensive Scope of Work (SOW). You must accurately translate blueprints into actionable project requirements. Identify specific NSBC Part 9 and National Building Code (NBC) requirements that may impact the preliminary estimate. Utilize company-specific estimating software to build detailed project estimates and generate formal construction contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions align with the final scope. Prepare detailed bid packages for sub-trades, evaluate incoming submissions for "apples-to-apples" coverage, and provide data-backed recommendations for awarding contracts. Execute precise quantitative take-offs for all materials and labour. Maintain high-level accuracy in data entry to minimize variance during construction phase. Act as the administrator for the estimating database, ensuring cost catalogs, unit prices, and assemblies are current, accurate, and optimized for the entire team. Maintain proactive communication with Sales, Drafting, and Design teams to address scope creep, design changes, or value-engineering opportunities. Participate in regular project review meetings. Stay current on evolving building technologies, local material supply chains, and modern installation methods. Qualifications & Key Competencies 2-5 years of estimating experience in residential construction. Strong working knowledge of the Nova Scotia Building Code (Part 9) and the National Building Code of Canada. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; prior experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software is a significant asset. Deep understanding of residential and light commercial assembly types, material grades, and labor productivity rates. Proven ability to interpret complex residential and commercial construction documents. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for travel to sites across the HRM and surrounding areas.
