Competition Number: 2026-057 Position: Human Resources Generalist Department: Operations Employment Status: Full-Time Salary: $31- $42/HR – 35 Hours per Week Location: Naughton, ON Closing Date: September 21, 2026 at 4:00pm POSITION SCOPE: The Human Resources Generalist oversees and administers human resources responsibilities and activities for Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. The role supports the full range of human resources functions, including recruitment and selection, employee onboarding, performance management, compensation support, benefits and pension administration, employment legislation, employee relations, and general HR administration. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Human Resources Manager. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline. Certified Human Resources Professional designation, such as CHRP or CHRL, or working toward this designation, is preferred. Five or more years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or comparable role. An equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the minimum requirements may be considered. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Canada Labour Code, the Ontario Employment Standards Act, and other relevant legislative requirements. Thorough understanding of Human Resources best practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead leave and return-to-work management, including employee communication, documentation, benefit continuance, time-off balances, LTD coordination, employee check-ins, and related equipment requests. Lead recruitment and selection activities, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, interviews, interview guides, references, hiring approvals, competition files, and offer letters. Support hiring managers in talent acquisition, selection planning, interview processes, and sound hiring decisions. Lead or support employee relations and conflict management matters, including incident reviews, complaints, mediation, disciplinary meetings, investigations, warnings, and PIP documentation. Support employment due diligence by researching legislation, policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and First Nation employment matters. Assist with policy review, amendments, development, compliance research, and work with HR consultants or legal resources as directed. Assist with HR process improvements related to orientation, offboarding, leave management, LTD, compensation, total rewards, management coaching, and HR projects. Support performance management by tracking probationary and annual reviews, preparing related documentation, and assisting with performance improvement processes. Assist with salary administration, compensation spreadsheets, rate changes, COLA/increase tracking, and payroll submissions. Prepare and update job descriptions, job postings, employment contracts, HR templates, and related employment documents. Assist with onboarding and orientation, including employee packages, required forms, pension and benefits information, and HRIS onboarding processes. Assist with benefits and pension administration, including enrolment, continuance forms, employee inquiries, and related communications. Support health and safety by assisting with WSIB information, claim-related documentation, and employee follow-up where appropriate. Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HR records.
