Atholville Mill is currently recruiting for the following position: Human Resources Generalist – HR Department Role Overview Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the HR Generalist will play a key role in the HR department. The successful candidate will assist in driving human resources initiatives and administering programs/policies that will promote a positive high-performance culture. This fast-paced environment will be both challenging and rewarding. The ideal candidate must have a desire to succeed and grow while utilizing their service driven personality. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both employee experience and organizational success while developing strong business and HR expertise. Responsibilities Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process for salaried and unionized positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation. Support the delivery and continuous improvement of Human Resources programs, policies, and initiatives that promote employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS data, and other confidential HR documentation in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements. Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, employment standards, and workplace practices. Support positive labour relations by assisting with the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, grievance processes, and collective bargaining preparation. Coordinate and support employee training, organizational development, performance management, employee recognition, and retention initiatives. Assist with the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs. Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation to support compliance, operational needs, and strategic decision-making. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects that enhance HR services and support business objectives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills & Abilities University degree combined with 1 to 5 years’ Human Resources experience is preferred; however, recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply. CHRP designation (or equivalent), in progress or willingness to obtain, is considered an asset. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with experience using HRIS platforms; intermediate Excel proficiency is required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative and supportive team environment. Experience in a Unionized manufacturing environment is considered an asset. Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
