Job Summary Reporting to the VP, Large Format, the Prepress Operator is responsible for preparing and processing print files for large format production. This role ensures that digital files are accurately prepped, proofed, and optimized for printing on various surfaces while maintaining high-quality standards. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, technical proficiency in prepress software, and a strong understanding of color management and print production workflows. JOB KNOWLEDGE Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in prepress, preferably in large format printing. Experience with cutting and finishing equipment related to large format graphics. Familiarity with wide-format printers. Basic understanding of file preparation for signage, banners, etc. Skills Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Working knowledge with PageMaker, QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator software and large format printing workflows Understanding of color theory, color management Knowledge of different substrates and their impact on print output Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and time management skills Duties And Responsibilities Receive, review and prepare client files for production Check files for errors such as resolution, color modes, font issues and bleed requirements. Optimize digital files for large format printing on different materials (vinyl, canvas, paper, fabric, etc.) Manage and operate prepress software including Adobe Suite, QuarkXpress, Illustrator and other workflow tools. Perform color correction, scaling and layout adjustments to ensure print fidelity. Generate proofs and samples for client approval, ensuring accurate representation of final output Maintain organized file storage and version control for all production jobs Collaborate closely with designers, print operators and production staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery. Troubleshoot and resolve prepress-related issues to prevent delays or print errors. Stay updated on industry trends, software updates and large format printing technologies. WORKING CONDITIONS Production environment with exposure to printing equipment, inks and chemicals. May require standing for long periods and handling large, heavy material rolls Occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
