PROJECT COORDINATOR / SITE ENGINEER (6-MONTH CONTRACT) Location: Quebec City, QC Project: Orleans Island Bridge (Île d'Orléans Bridge project) Reports to: Project Manager Contract Term: 6 months Shift: 14 days on / 7 off rotating, 12 hours shifts Rotational travel to the job site is required for this position. Candidate can be located outside of Quebec. THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the Project Manager, this is a field-focused technical position responsible for day-to-day coordination, quality control, and technical oversight of deep foundation and ground improvement works on active construction sites. You will work directly alongside drilling crews, superintendents, inspectors, and subcontractors to ensure systems such as micropiles, anchors/tiebacks, shoring, jet grouting, soil mixing (DSM), vibro techniques, and other foundation methods are executed safely, accurately, and in strict accordance with geotechnical design, drawings, and project specifications. This role is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable in a site environment, enjoys solving real-time field challenges, and has hands-on experience with drilling and foundation operations. Key Responsibilities: * Act as the on-site technical advisor for deep foundation and ground improvement activities. * Develop a thorough understanding of project drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and scope of work to ensure accurate field execution. * Interpret IFC drawings and contract documents; verify work against design and specifications. * Provide real-time technical support to drilling crews and the Project Manager to resolve subsurface and construction challenges. * Perform inspections of foundation excavations and drilling operations. * Conduct field logging, determination, and classification of encountered soil and rock strata. * Monitor and document installation parameters including drilling depths, grout volumes and pressures, and production data. * Coordinate daily site activities with drill crews, equipment operators, inspectors, testing agencies, and other trades. * Prepare detailed daily construction reports, progress reports, and QA/QC documentation. * Support RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built records related to foundation works. * Assist with and coordinate field and material testing including soil, slurry, grout, and concrete. * Track production quantities and material usage to support project cost and schedule reporting. * Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, Health & Safety, and Field Operations to maintain a safe and high-quality site environment. * Mentor junior field and technical staff as required. * Other duties as assigned. WHAT WE LOOK FOR * Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. * EIT or P.Eng. designation considered an asset. * 2-5 years of field experience on active piling, shoring, anchoring, micropile, drilling, or ground improvement projects. * Strong working knowledge of: * Micropiles, anchors/tiebacks, drilled shafts/caissons, shoring systems * Jet grouting, soil mixing (DSM), vibro techniques, and grouting methods * Soil and rock classification in field conditions * Geotechnical instrumentation and field testing methods * Experience preparing RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and QA/QC documentation. * Comfortable working full-time in an active construction site environment alongside drilling and foundation crews. * Experience with AutoCAD is beneficial * Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency with construction documentation and reporting tools. * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. PAY RANGE The pay range for this position is $26.00 – 36.00 per hour, based on experience.
