Registered practical nurse (R.P.N.)

Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English Hours: 65.5 hours bi-weekly Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Practical nursing, vocational nursing and nursing assistants, other Tasks Administer medications Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing Conduct specimen collection Ensure infection control Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files Take vital signs Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses CPR Certificate Licensure as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse by provincial authorities Work conditions and physical capabilities Fast-paced environment Repetitive tasks Physically demanding Attention to detail Combination of sitting, standing, walking Standing for extended periods Personal suitability Client focus Dependability Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Judgement Organized Reliability Team player Values and ethics Screening questions Are you available for shift or on-call work? The Registered Practical Nurse will provide nursing services to patients based on assessment and care planning procedures. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Candidates must have a college diploma in practical nursing and 1 to 2 years of relevant experience. A CPR certificate and licensure as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse are also required.
