Health & Safety Specialist Location: Ottawa & Toronto, Ontario Industry: Real Estate Development / Construction Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview A leading real estate developer is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to support active construction and development projects throughout the Ottawa and Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will promote a strong safety culture, conduct site inspections, ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety regulations, and work closely with project managers, site supervisors, contractors, and trades. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular health and safety inspections across construction sites Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions Ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable construction regulations Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety programs and procedures Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and workplace concerns Prepare inspection reports, incident documentation, and corrective-action plans Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with company safety standards Maintain safety records, certifications, and training documentation Support emergency-response planning and return-to-work programs Work with project teams to continuously improve health and safety performance Qualifications Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field Strong knowledge of Ontario construction safety legislation and regulations Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel between project sites Strong communication, training, investigation, and reporting skills Comfortable working independently in active construction environments Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety-management software What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits Long-term career growth with an established real estate developer Exposure to major development projects across Ontario Collaborative and safety-focused working environment Travel between Ottawa and Toronto-area project sites will be required.
