Platform Engineer

Job Title: Software Engineer III Rate: $60/hr CAD Location: 2 St. Clair Avenue East, Toronto Ontario CAN M5V1L9 (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Duration: 6 Months with possible extension Job Description: We are looking for someone who aligns more closely with a Senior Platform Engineer. However, a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong software development and automation experience would also be a good fit. Approximately 70% infrastructure/platform engineering and 30% software development/automation. The development work is primarily focused on building automation, CI/CD tooling, Infrastructure-as-Code, and improving developer productivity rather than application feature development. 5+ years of experience in software engineering and platform operations in a large-scale or enterprise environment. Strong programming skills in Java (preferred), with experience in Spring Boot or similar frameworks. Bonus for front-end experience (React, Angular, or similar). Experience designing, deploying, and managing applications in Kubernetes and Dockerized environments. Strong expertise in AWS cloud architecture, including experience with core services (IAM, VPC, ECS) and automating infrastructure-as-code for AWS environments. Familiarity with internal developer platforms and tools like JIRA, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, and related systems. Comfortable with monitoring/logging stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar). Experience with infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed systems, APIs, and infrastructure layers. Ability to translate platform needs into maintainable, performant code and configuration. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across engineering and infrastructure domains.

The role focuses on infrastructure/platform engineering and software development/automation, primarily building automation and CI/CD tooling. The engineer will work on improving developer productivity rather than application feature development.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in software engineering and platform operations in a large-scale environment. Strong programming skills in Java and experience with AWS cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code tools are essential.
