Bayside Auto Collision Center is looking for Auto Body Collision Technician. Salary is to be discussed and considered based on prior experience. *THE JOB* Auto body collision and refinish technicians repair and restore damaged motor vehicle body parts and interior finishing; repaint body surfaces; repair and/or replace automotive glass; repair defective automobile body parts and damage to the bodies of newly assembled cars. They are responsible for repairing all assigned vehicles and restoring them to pre-accident conditions following industry standards and factory specifications. *DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES* * Review damage report and estimate repair cost, and plan work to be performed. * Repair damaged vehicles using technical information sheets following APS (Advanced Process Solutions) following repair orders (RO). * Makes ?repair or replace? decisions concerning safety, costs, and cycle time. * Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment and trim to gain access to the vehicle and fenders. * Repair and replace front-end components, body components, doors and frames and underbody components. * Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers. * Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams. * Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place. * Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment. * File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools. * Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting. * Mix, paint, blend and match color's. * Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns. * Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs. * Perform airbag replacement and some mechanical work. * Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation. * Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling. * Meets or exceeds Bayside's requirements for tech efficiency, cycle time (to keep vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery) and return rate. * Utilize all required safety equipment, follow proper repair procedures, and adhere to all hazardous waste disposal requirements. * Keeps personal work area organized and clean, returns tools and maintains parts/materials carts in an organized manner. * Follow Bayside?s quality control processes and inspections. * Perform assigned duties safely and responsibly, not exposing her or himself or other employees to unnecessary risk of injury. * Other duties as assigned. *REQUIREMENTS* * Auto body collision repair experience is considered an asset. * Red Seal License as an Auto Body Collision Repair Technician preferred and considered an asset. * History of working independently and in a team environment. * Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments. * Own tools. * Driving License (Required). *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* * Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs. * Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 80lbs). * Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment. * Standing, sitting, walking. * Performing repetitive motions. *WORK ENVIRONMENT* Exposure to: * Paint, fumes and particles. * Dirt / Dust. * Chemicals / Toxins. * Varying heat / cold. * Intermittent noise.
