Job Description WELDER Richmond - Fleet Maintenance Unit Casual - Fixed Term The Opportunity We’re looking for a skilled Welder who is a collaborative team player and confident self-starter with strong technical and interpersonal abilities. In this role, you will plan, supply, maintain, and perform welding and fabrication work in support of our vessels, terminals, buildings, facilities, and new construction projects. You prepare sketches, order materials, perform welding and fabrication set-up and preparation while coordinating work with other trades and contractors. This is an opportunity to contribute to complex, safety-critical infrastructure in a dynamic marine environment. The Role Reporting to the Trades Supervisor, you perform the following duties: Planning work by making sketches, calculating measurements, ordering materials including steel, pipe, and fittings; estimating time, travel, and support staff required to perform the job. Performing welding set-up and preparation activities including organizing machines, rods, and applications, fabrication, cutting, equipment set-up and tools; grinding and drilling; and coordinating work with other trades and contractors. Travelling to off-site locations and transporting and handling dangerous cargo including oxygen and acetylene to various locations within the system. Providing a "lead hand" role for new employees, apprentices and helpers, including input into performance assessment. Performing additional duties including completing paperwork; attending seminars; stocking the welding truck; ensuring there is a fire watch set-up and emergency equipment available; assisting other trades; cleaning the shop and ramps; and washing the vehicle. What you bring to the team You hold an ‘A’ Level Welding Certificate, as well as a minimum 3 years’ related experience, with at least 1 year welding fabrication experience, preferably in the marine industry. All position CWB certification an asset. A valid BC driver’s licence is required as moderate travel throughout the fleet is required. Join us!
