Position Overview The Nisga'a School District is seeking a Nisga'a Language and Culture Teacher to work with students at Nisga'a Elementary School. The role is carried out within a learning environment grounded in culture, community, and connection to the land and includes contributing to reconciliation through the teaching and learning of Nisga'a language, culture, and ways of knowing. The position is highly collaborative and delivered through a flexible range of instructional models, including integrated classroom support, small‑group and individual instruction, and whole‑class programming, in partnership with classroom teachers and school staff. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with BC curriculum and learning standards Use assessment to inform instruction and support learner growth over time Create inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environments that support the wellbeing and success of all learners Build positive, respectful relationships with learners, families, and colleagues Engage in professional learning and collaborative practices to support effective teaching and learning Required Qualifications Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) Legally permitted to work in Canada Experience delivering instruction in Nisga'a Language and Culture Knowledge of the BC Curriculum, including learning standards and core competencies Preferred Attributes Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship‑building skills Socially responsive practice that supports student wellbeing Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice Confident use of technology to support teaching, learning, and communication Compensation & Incentives Competitive salary aligned with the BCTF salary gridRecruitment & Retention Allowance Affordable, furnished staff housing ($350–$600 per month) Moving allowance Mentoring and instructional coaching Application Process Applications must be submitted through Make a Future and include: A resume and cover letter Three professional references, including one current or recent supervisor A one‑page statement outlining your approach to learning and leadership This posting will remain open until filled.
